BRANDED: RUKRU Clothing

Rukru (pronounced roo-crew) is a new brand based out of L.A. who simply “Respect The Trade”. And oh, don’t they do it so beautifully? With the recent release of their premier line it’s apparent these cats are not fucking around. In a growing culture, and in an extremely saturated city, full of prospective newborn brands, making a name for yourself and your brand becomes much harder. Regardless, Rukru comes out of the corner swinging. putting quality and design before revenue: a great message, dope designs, and a drive to reach the top-Rukru has all the tools it takes to make that name shine above the rest, and to make that name respected throughout the streetwear world. Summer 2010 line is available now through their Online shop, and be sure to check out their Blog. More photos after the jump…

BRANDED: BLACK SCALE

Black Scale (representing the balance of good vs. evil) is a new brand who seemed to gain rapid success. In just the past couple months Black Scale opened a flagship store in San Fransisco and a concept store in Los Angeles, and have had some major collaborations with the likes of Diamond Supply Co., Android Homme, and DTA.

Their sleek and simple designs can be seem on stars such as Jay-z and Clinton Sparks, but don’t let that fool you. Black scale is far from just hype, their designs portray messages dealing with society, religion, government, Identity and death. These guys have a message and they are putting it in your face as simple and straight forward as they can.

at first Black Scale’s Romanesque logo threw me off. I had seen a few good designs from past lines, but on first impressions they seemed to be doing what other brands (Rogue Status, Triumvir, DTA) were already doing on a larger scale. It was not until this video was released that it became apparent that Black Scale was on some different, deeper shit.

Black Scale, with a few other brands, are becoming the future of streetwear, they are taking it to a more meaningful and mature level balancing on the line of contemporary wear but keeping the streetwear lifestyle and attitude.
